Description

Uses:

Herbal Tea for Liver Health & Hangovers. Liver support after overindulgence of rich food and / or alcohol. Supplementary treatment for chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. Diuretic. Liver protection and stimulate the secretion of bile. Liver regeneration and detoxification.

Dosage:

1 teaspoon of dried herb infused into a cup of hot water. Strain and drink. Sweet with honey to taste if required. Repeat as required.

Cautions:

  • Don’t take if pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients – if allergic reaction occurs discontinue use.
  • Do not use to treat problems caused by an obstruction to the flow of bile, such as gallstones or any other liver disease unless prescribed by a doctor or herbalist.
  • An overdose of any milk thistle preparation can cause vomiting.
  • May have a mild laxative effect.
  • Milk thistle may interact with Phenytoin and medication taken to control high blood pressure.
  • People with chronic kidney disease should consult a doctor before using golden rod.
  • Don’t use for longer than 4 to 6 weeks continuously.
  • Can have an anaesthetizing effect, which can result in low blood pressure.
  • Red clover should be avoided by women trying to conceive, as research has shown that it can act as a contraceptive.
  • Red Clover is not recommended for people with a history of tumours that are stimulated by the presence of the hormone oestrogen, and it as well as turmeric, should not be taken at the same time as medications that thin or inhibit the clotting of blood, or with any hormonal therapy.
  • Urticaria associated with red clover has been reported.
  • High doses of turmeric can irritate the stomach, causing nausea.
  • Schisandra is traditionally contra-indicated in the early stages of colds and coughs.
  • Mild, transient gastro-intestinal symptoms and headaches have occasionally been reported.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
